AutoMedx has been awarded a $100,000 Phase I DARPA contract to develop the SAVe II
GERMANTOWN, MD--AutoMedx has been awarded a $100,000 Phase I DARPA contract to develop the SAVe II, a follow-on
version of its Simplified Automated Ventilator, the company announced October 5, 2007.
During the research effort, AutoMedx will develop several prototype SAVe II units, which will be tested and evaluated
for factors including durability and operability. The first version of the SAVe received FDA clearance in September;
AutoMedx is currently producing its first order for the Army.
Both versions are designed for use on the battlefield or other austere pre-hospital environments. A battery driven
pump eliminates the risks associated with using compressed gas. Key features include unmatched portability, automated
operation, and ease of use.
"We are pleased that DARPA recognizes and supports our innovative approach to mechanical ventilation. This funding
will help us expedite the development of the SAVe II, which will be a more functionally robust device, but like the
SAVe I, be very easy to use" said James Evans, President & CEO of AutoMedx.
About AutoMedx Inc. Founded in 2004, AutoMedx' mission is to save lives by providing unparalleled access to mechanical
ventilation during the first critical minutes of distress. AutoMedx is located in Germantown, Maryland.
