AutoMedx Inc. Receives FDA Clearance for the SAVe Ventilator
Germantown MD - AutoMedx Inc. announced today that the company received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k)
clearance to market its Simplified Automated Ventilator, the SAVe.
The SAVe was designed and built for the combat medic. It is a highly portable, automated ventilator designed for use
on the battlefield or other austere pre-hospital environment. Unlike the ventilators currently in the field, the SAVe
requires relatively little training. With a set tidal volume and respiratory rate the SAVe removes the guess work and
reduces operator error. The unit does not require a compressed gas source. Instead it uses a battery driven pump to
deliver ambient air for 5+ hours on a single charge. In addition, the SAVe incorporates a number of safety features
normally reserved for more expensive and complex ventilators.
"Now that we have FDA clearance it is an all hands effort to get the SAVe to the medics and soldiers in harm's way,"
said James Evans, President & CEO of AutoMedx. "AutoMedx worked closely with the military to develop a highly
reliable, yet safe and easy to use device. The SAVe will enable medics to provide life saving mechanical ventilation
in the far forward environment without the risks associated with using compressed gas. Saving lives is what it's all
about."
"We are excited about the enthusiastic reception the SAVe has received from the combat casualty care community," said
VP of Operations Adrian R. Urias.
