Patient Breathing Circuit
The Automedx patient circuit consists of corrugated breathing tubing coupled with pressure tubing in a sleek and
rugged design. The corrugated tubing is designed so that even a very sharp bend will not close off flow and has very low
compliance to ensure an efficient supply of air. The breathing circuit is for single patient use and utilizes a one-way
non-rebreathing valve to deliver a precise tidal volume with each breath. The silicone rubber end fittings create an
excellent seal from the SAVe to the patient.
Debris Filter
As the SAVe is intended for use on the battlefield and other pre-hospital environments, the filter is necessary to
prevent dirt, sand or other debris and contaminates from entering the ventilator. The debris filter is a foam disk
approximately 1.6 inches in diameter and .375 inches thick and has been carefully chosen by Automedx because it will not
interfere with the ventilator's airflow. The SAVe should never be used without the debris filter and the filter should be
cleaned or replaced after each patient use. Additional debris filters are available in packs of five.
Patient Mask
To assist a patient, the SAVe is generally connected to a breathing mask through the patient breathing circuit. To
ensure a proper seal, the Patient Mask does not contain an oxygen port and comes with a head strap to enable hands-free
ventilation.
Power Supply
The SAVe can run for 5+ hours on a single charge and may be recharged using an external medical grade power supply.
This power supply allows the SAVe to run and recharge simultaneously. The SAVe should be recharged after each use and a
completely depleted battery will take 6 hours to fully recharge. The Power Supply can accept an AC voltage between 100 and
240V at a frequency of 50/60 Hz.
Oxygen Tubing
In many emergency resuscitation situations, supplemental medical grade air or oxygen may be unavailable or
unnecessary; however, the SAVe provides the ability to accept supplemental medical grade air or oxygen. Automedx supplied
Oxygen Tubing may be connected from the air source's flow-regulated output valve to the supplemental air port on the SAVe.
The SAVe can accept a maximum flow rate of 6 liters per minute from the air source.
EtCO2 Detector
The EtCO2 Detector may be used to monitor the patient's airway. The presence of CO2 in a patient's exhaled air is a
good indicator that a proper respiratory exchange is occurring. Once activated, the EtCO2 sensor lasts approximately 1
hour. The sensor may not be refurbished or reused and should be properly disposed of once expended. To ensure
compatibility and proper operation, only use EtCO2 detectors purchased through AutoMedx.
