About Us

AutoMedx Inc. was founded to improve the survival rate of individuals suffering acute respiratory failure by providing unparalleled access to mechanical ventilation during the first critical minutes of respiratory distress.

One of the top ten causes of death in the United States, acute respiratory failure remains a major cause of mortality in pediatric and adult populations. The annual incidence in the United States may be as high as 150,000 cases, with mortality rates generally ranging between 50% and 70% in adult populations and 60% to 75% in children. Although acute respiratory compromise may be a manifestation of ventilatory failure, most commonly it results from an acute lung injury.

The human brain begins to suffer permanent damage after three minutes without oxygen. Yet, in the United States, it takes approximately nine minutes from the onset of respiratory failure until an EMS team arrives on scene and begins to mechanically ventilate the patient, which is six minutes too many. In many parts of the country, it can take significantly longer. Those that do survive often do not fully recover. When every second counts, early resuscitation is paramount. Mechanical ventilation needs to be more readily available; however, emergency transport ventilators on the market today are complex and require a trained medical professional to operate.

The SAVe's ease of use enables any non-medical first responder the ability to provide life saving mechanical ventilation until an EMS team arrives on scene or until the patient is transported to a medical facility.

The realization that early resuscitation dramatically improves the chance of survival was the impetus for making Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available to the public.

Recent clinical studies have shown the survival rate of those suffering from sudden cardiac arrest increases from 5% to as high as 70% when an AED is available and used on a victim within three minutes of the onset of cardiac arrest. AEDs are now found in airplanes, airports, shopping malls, homes, and in the back of police cruisers.

AutoMedx aspires to make life saving mechanical ventilation equally accessible during the first critical minutes of distress.
